100% in your browser, nothing is uploaded

Privacy Policy

Drop in HEIC, HEIF, AVIF, WebP, PNG, BMP, GIF, JPG, SVG, or a PDF. Get a clean JPG, WebP, or PNG: your pick. No sign-up, no upload, no watermark.

Private by default: every output image is rebuilt from scratch in your browser, so it carries no EXIF metadata: no GPS location, camera model, or edit history, no matter what format you drop in. Nothing is uploaded, ever.

Field manual

Is my photo uploaded anywhere?

No. Every byte is decoded and re-encoded on your own device using WebAssembly. If you close the tab mid-convert, nothing has left your computer.

Does my photo's EXIF / GPS location get carried into the JPG?

No. The converter rebuilds the image from scratch in your browser, so the output JPG has no EXIF metadata at all: no GPS coordinates, camera make/model, lens, orientation, or edit history, regardless of whether you started from a HEIC, JPEG, PNG, AVIF, or WebP. That's a privacy feature, not a bug: the only metadata that survives is what's baked into the pixels themselves.

Why do I need a special tool for HEIC?

iPhone saves photos as HEIC, which only Apple devices and Safari can open. On Android, Windows, or desktop Chrome, a .heic file won't load, so this page runs a WASM build of the libheif decoder to read it, then writes a standard JPG.

What formats can I convert?

HEIC, HEIF, AVIF, WebP, PNG, BMP, GIF, JPG, and SVG in, plus PDF (every page becomes its own image). Out: JPG, WebP, or PNG: pick whichever fits where the image will live. Everything is decoded on your device.

Why is my JPG a bit larger than the AVIF/HEIC I started with?

AVIF and HEIC compress far more efficiently than JPEG at the same visual quality. Converting buys you compatibility, not a smaller file; JPG opens everywhere, including apps and printers that can't read the newer formats.

The short version

Google AdSense requires me to put a privacy policy, but in this case, it is a formality.

There is, very intentionally, no server to upload anything to. There is no account, no sign-up, and no personal information collected. I do not collect your information. I don't want your information, because it is a pain to manage, and I do not want or need it.

Advertising and cookies

This site displays advertising provided by Google AdSense, and may also display ads from other third-party vendors and ad networks. This is, as you might imagine, to help with hosting costs. Nothing is free. As a result of this:

If you have not opted out of third-party ad serving, the cookies of other third-party vendors and ad networks may also be used to serve ads on this site. Those vendors' own privacy policies govern how their cookies are used, and you can review and opt out through each vendor's site or through www.aboutads.info.

Your choices

You can opt out of personalized advertising as described above. You can also disable third-party cookies in your browser, which will prevent ad cookies from being stored, though it may affect how some ads display.

You can also use an adblocker, which I highly recommend you do anyway. Specifically, these two:

They are the same project, and the GitHub repo has install links for all the browsers.
